Chambers biographical dictionary

Chambers Biographical Dictionary is a compact English-language reference work containing concise biographies of notable people from many periods and fields. Its international coverage spans literary, political, artistic, musical, legal, medical, scientific, religious, historical, military and criminal figures, making it useful for readers who need a quick overview of an individual’s life and significance.

Edited by Una McGovern, this edition is designed for browsing, fact-checking and general reference rather than extended biographical study. Entries provide an accessible starting point for identifying important personalities and placing them within their historical or professional context. A practical choice for home libraries, students, writers and anyone interested in a broad survey of world biography.
