One of Agatha Christie’s most unusual mysteries, this novel transports the classic country‑house murder into ancient Egypt. Set in a prosperous household on the Nile, the story begins when the patriarch brings home a new concubine, disrupting the delicate balance among his children and relatives. Jealousy, resentment, and long-buried rivalries soon erupt—and when violence strikes, suspicion falls on nearly everyone under the roof. Christie, renowned as the “Queen of Crime,” combines her trademark psychological insight and tightly constructed plotting with a vividly realized historical setting. Blending family drama, suspense, and social detail, this is a compelling choice for readers who enjoy classic detective fiction with a distinctive backdrop.
