In this concise and provocative study, William G. Gray explores the archetype of the Great Goddess as it appears within Western esoteric and magical traditions. Rather than presenting a purely historical or mythological survey, Gray approaches the subject as a practicing occultist, examining how the “Primal Goddess” functions as a living spiritual force within ritual work, symbolism, and inner development. He considers the psychological, magical, and initiatory dimensions of goddess imagery, relating them to the structure of Western Mystery traditions.
Gray, a respected British occultist and author associated with the Sangreal Foundation and the Western esoteric revival of the 20th century, writes in a direct, thoughtful style that blends philosophy with practical insight. This book will appeal to students of ceremonial magic, modern paganism, and those interested in the deeper symbolic currents behind goddess spirituality.
