L.E. Modesitt's Recluce fantasy novels have a legion of followers, with each novel attracting more readers. Now Modesitt has created another fantasy world- a world as rich and wonderful as Recluce- a world called Erde, governed by the power of music and song. THE SOPRANO SORCERESS and the volumes that follow are sure to thrill Modesitt's existing fans and win many new ones. When Anna Marshall, singer and music instructor at Iowa State University, is drawn into the magical world of Erde, she is no longer just a professional singer: she is a sorceress - potentially the strongest on the whole world. On Erde, song is magic, and a wrong note can mean death to a sorcerer. Anna's training means that she can sing more powerfully and more precisely than anyone else - but her power does not go unnoticed and she soon finds herself the target of ruthless political factions.
