The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa is a heartwarming Japanese novel narrated largely from the perspective of Nana, a stray cat with a distinctive crooked tail who finds a home with the kind-hearted Satoru. The two embark on a poignant road trip across Japan in Satoru's silver van, visiting old friends and acquaintances as Satoru quietly seeks a new owner for Nana due to unavoidable circumstances tied to his past. Along the way, the story weaves together themes of friendship, loss, regret, and unbreakable bonds—both human and feline—revealing Satoru's history through tender flashbacks and Nana's wry observations, set against Japan's diverse landscapes and changing seasons.
