In America. Travels with John Steinbeck

This is not a Song of Praise, but the very realistic assessment of the problems the USA has – and the problems the world has with the USA. Written in 2010, it gave me an eerie feeling, seeing how the political scene has even more deteriorated in these few years. Based on John Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley, which is shown as a mix of fact and fiction, backed up by information about Steinbeck’s letters, it’s a disturbing book, dark, and a stark warning about the suicidal trends of a society that is deeply at war with itself. Read it and weep. The only objection I have is that the author refers a lot to his wife, who travelled with him, but doesn’t find it necessary to mention her name.
